For years the summer center of gravity in Avon sat on Thursday, when the town-adjacent event calendars all seemed to converge and the park filled up on cue. That is not the shape of 2026. The AvonLIVE! Wednesday series, a reopened restaurant at the Westin Riverfront, and a set of unglamorous rule changes at Harry A. Nottingham Park have all landed on the same weeknight, and the result is a midweek that now reads more like a Friday.
If you already live here, the reason to pay attention is not that something new is happening on Wednesdays. It is that everything you already do on a summer night, paddle the lake, meet friends at the pavilion, grab dinner walking distance from home, has been quietly rescheduled to overlap between 5:00 and 9:00 p.m.
The 2026 lineup in one glance
AvonLIVE! runs ten Wednesdays this summer at the Avon Pavilion, with gates at 5:30 p.m. and music starting at 6:00. The full schedule as posted by the town:

The scale of the bookings is worth flagging. Karl Denson's Tiny Universe and Dogs In A Pile are the kind of acts that would headline a paid festival stage two hours down I-70. In Avon they are free, on grass, six blocks from the grocery store.
What actually changed at 5:30
The rules around AvonLIVE! shifted this year in ways that reward residents who show up on foot rather than treating the park like a tailgate:
- Nottingham Park is now designated open container for the summer, but during AvonLIVE!, alcohol is not allowed within the liquor boundary where alcohol is being sold. The Hahnewald Bar is the only option once you step inside the fence.
- There will not be any beverages available for purchase in single-use plastic bottles, a consequence of the town's recycling ordinance that has been in force since November 2023.
- Free on-street summer parking runs April 1 through November 30 on East Benchmark Road, West Benchmark Road, Lake Street, and West Beaver Creek Boulevard, with the Rec Center, Town Hall, Library, and Lot 16 lots all under managed rules on show nights.
- The town's 2025 event operations diverted 87% of event waste from the landfill, totaling over 5,000 pounds, which is why you will see the bin banks near the stage staffed rather than ignored.
For anyone who lives within a fifteen-minute walk, the honest read is that driving in for AvonLIVE! is now the harder path. Walking in, or arriving by the Avon bus, is what the schedule assumes.
The lake hours that make it work
The other quiet piece of this is what happens on the water before the music starts. Nottingham Lake serves as the central headquarters for Avon's summer activities in the park, and the Town of Avon has partnered with Stand Up Paddle Colorado to offer pedal boat, stand up paddle board, and kayak rentals from Memorial Weekend through Labor Day weekend. Rentals sit at the northeast shore next to the swim beach, and from May 23 through August 17 they run 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., then 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from August 18 through September 1, and 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. from September 2 through 6.
Read those hours next to the concert schedule. The rental window closes at exactly 5:00 p.m. Gates open at 5:30. The swim beach itself runs 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily, June through August, with no lifeguard on duty. That is a thirty-minute handoff, on purpose. You can be off the paddleboard, on the grass with a picnic, and in earshot of the opener without moving your car.
Colletta rewrites the pre-show dinner
For most of the past decade the pre-show dinner question in Avon had one answer at the Westin Riverfront, and that answer was Stoke & Rye. This summer that changed. Colletta, from The Indigo Road Hospitality Group, brings a lively, modern Italian dining experience to the resort, and is now open daily with breakfast 7 to 11 a.m., dinner 5 to 9 p.m., and the bar 5 to 10 p.m.
The menu itself is house-made pastas, wood-fired pizzas, fresh seafood, seasonal ingredients, and thoughtfully prepared Italian classics, and the room sits inside the same Westin footprint that has always been walking distance to the Pavilion by way of the pedestrian bridge over the Eagle River. The 5:00 p.m. dinner open is the tell. That is the AvonLIVE! opening act timing, not a resort dinner timing. Colletta is being served, at least in part, to the crowd already walking to the park.
Whether it holds up against Vin48, which remains the locally owned neighborhood option a few blocks north with more than 40 wines by the glass served via an enomatic system, is a question every Avon resident will answer for themselves by August. The point is that Wednesday now has a second serious sit-down option on the same side of the river as the show.
A resident's Wednesday, laid out on the clock
If you have lived here for a season or two, the shape of the evening writes itself. If you are new to the rhythm, it looks something like this:
- 4:30 p.m. Last hour of paddleboard time at the northeast shore. The lake is calmer than midday and the light on Beaver Creek Mountain is better.
- 5:00 p.m. Rentals close. Walk the north-shore path back toward the Pavilion. Swim beach is still open until 8:00 if kids want another twenty minutes in the water.
- 5:30 p.m. Gates open. If you are eating at Colletta, you are already seated. If you brought a picnic, you are staking out grass on the lawn.
- 6:00 p.m. Opener starts. The Hahnewald Bar is the pour if you did not eat off-site. Low-back chairs and blankets are welcome.
- 7:15 p.m., roughly. Headliner takes the stage. On a Karl Denson or Dogs In A Pile night this is the moment the crowd doubles.
- 9:00 p.m. Music ends on schedule. Bridge Street in Vail is thirty minutes away by car if the night has more in it, but most residents are ten minutes from their front door.
The choreography is not accidental. It is what the town's schedule was built to produce.
Where Wednesday fits in the rest of the summer
The Wednesday anchor does not exist in isolation. It sits between a Sunday SunsetLIVE! series on the Terrace stage and a busy Friday-Saturday-Sunday slate that this year includes the Avon Arts Celebration on July 25 and 26 at Harry A. Nottingham Park, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Lakeside Cinema on Friday nights, and Salute to the USA in its 35th year around the Fourth. What has changed is that the calendar no longer treats Wednesday as a filler night between weekends. It treats it as the pivot.
